Budget
According to the FY 2025 Budget Request, the FTC plans to expand its technological capacity to “ensure that the agency’s enforcement, policy, and research agenda keeps pace with a rapidly digitizing economy.” The agency plans to increase staffing in its Office of Technology, hiring experts like software engineers, UX designers, and tech researchers. The FTC’s goal is to reduce reliance on external consultants and develop institutional knowledge to enable more effective and timely interventions in technology related market issues, supporting both the Bureau of Competition and Bureau of Consumer Protection.
