Programs
Nonproliferation and Arms Control:
- International Nuclear Safeguards: Builds capabilities for IAEA and partners to implement safeguards.
- Nuclear Export Controls: Strengthens systems to prevent illicit transfers of nuclear-related materials and technology.
- Nuclear Verification: Supports development and implementation of arms control treaties and agreements.
- Nonproliferation Policy: Develops strategies to reduce nuclear dangers and address emerging challenges.
Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation Research and Development:
- Focuses on detecting and monitoring foreign nuclear fuel cycle and weapons development activities.
- Develops space-based sensors for nuclear test treaty monitoring.
- Improves nuclear forensics capabilities related to nuclear detonations.
Budget
FY 2025 budget increases are directed towards “meet growing demands in counterterrorism and counterproliferations capabilities, including Red Teaming capabilities for a wide range of open‐source and industry Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems”
