Kristy Loke a doctoral candidate at the Lau China Institute, King’s College London. Her work focuses on improving the epistemics around China AI understanding in the West and exploring the opportunities this affords for global AI coordination. She is also a MATS research fellow. Previously, she was an affiliate at The Future Society, Concordia AI, and the Centre for the Governance of AI. She has appeared on the BBC News program, is a frequent op-ed writer for The Wire China, and her analyses have been featured by Bloomberg, Wired, and the MIT Tech Review. Prior to working full-time as an AI governance researcher and scholar, Kristy worked for three years in the corporate finance and risk sector in Hong Kong with a focus on Chinese tech companies. She holds a degree with distinction from the University of Hong Kong’s Master of International and Public Affairs program and a degree with honours from the University of Warwick in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
