We’re Hiring
The Future of Life Institute continues to grow as an organisation! We are currently recruiting for five positions across the Policy and Outreach teams, as well as Human Resources and Operations. So, without further ado, let’s look at the roles now open for applications.
Policy Team
EU Policy Analyst
This person would carefully analyse how changes in the Brussels’ policy landscape affect the governance of artificial intelligence and recommend appropriate actions. FLI only expanded its policy efforts to the EU in 2021 with the hiring of our current EU team of two; as a result, this new role represents a unique opportunity to join a dynamic organisation at an early stage of its growth on the continent. This is a full-time job, based in Brussels.
The first deadline for this role is 20th February 2022. For more information and to apply, click here.
Outreach Team
Editorial Manager
This person would be responsible for ideating, creating (alone or in collaboration with others), testing and promoting content related to FLI’s goals of reducing large-scale, extreme risks from transformative technologies, as well as steering the development and use of these technologies to benefit life. This is a full-time job with flexible hours, working remotely, but preferably within the time zones ET to CEST.
The first deadline for this role is 25th February 2022. For more information and to apply, click here.
Podcast Host and Director
As well as hosting, this person will be responsible for supervising all aspects of production, editing, publishing and promotion. We are looking for someone who can formulate and implement a vision for further improving the podcast’s quality and growing its audience. The FLI podcast is an audio and video podcast releasing on average 2 episodes every month. We have an audience of 6000-9000 people/episode. The podcast explores topics relevant to FLI’s mission of reducing large-scale, extreme risks from transformative technologies, as well as steering the development and use of these technologies to benefit life. You can find all our previous episodes here (as well as on YouTube and various podcast outlets).

Other Positions
Human Resources Manager
With FLI gaining so many new employees, we are also recruiting for a capable and experienced Human Resources specialist to help manage various aspects of FLI’s employee and contractor relationships. This position will be remote for the foreseeable future, with a US or EU location preferable, and a potential willingness to relocate to a physical location in the future desirable.

Operations Specialist
Finally, FLI is hiring an Operations Specialist, someone to help develop highly effective tools, workflows, and strategies for operations at FLI and other nonprofit organisations. This position will work independently under the supervision of FLI staff and in consultation with external experts on a ~6-month project to research and build highly efficient operations machinery for new non-profit organisations. This might be a standalone project or might evolve into a position at FLI or another organisation. Work will be primarily remote but a Bay Area physical location is a mild plus.
