Michael Kleinman, Head of US Policy for the Future of Life Institute, issued the following statement regarding the midterm elections:

“The pro-human movement is winning. In both ruby red and navy blue states, Americans embraced candidates who ran on regulating AI while rebuking those who failed to demonstrate their pro-human credentials and took money from Silicon Valley. This outcome was not inevitable; AI companies could develop tools that improve people’s lives and support human flourishing. Instead, they peddle companions for children, replacement for workers, and force data centers upon unwilling communities. Voters have had enough: they want strong and effective guardrails now, and they’re demanding accountability. The AI reckoning is here.”
