Mark Allworthy is FLI’s Middle East Advisor. He works with governments and strategic stakeholders across the region on governance and international cooperation related to advanced artificial intelligence.

Mark has over 25 years of experience working on geopolitics, defence policy, and advanced technologies. He has worked as a Senior Defence Consultant, served as a Senior Advisor to the UAE Ministry of Defence, and was the founding Director of the Middle East Headquarters of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in Bahrain.

He holds a BA in Arabic and Persian from the University of Oxford, Pembroke College.
