Why do you care about AI Existential Safety?

Existential safety is every person and every animal’s safety. I founded PauseAI US because deep in my bones I feel it is my duty to do my part to protect sentient creatures, and (after the Pause letter!) I saw a way that I could take on that wasn’t being tried.

Please give at least one example of your research interests related to AI existential safety:

PauseAI US educates the public and elected officials about AI risk and organizes grassroots community-building, lobby, advocacy around an international treaty to pause frontier AI development until representative oversight can be put in place and further development can be done safely.
